During my interview with Fortra’s Tom Huntington, I mentioned that my husband and I had recently celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary. To those that track these things, 35 is the coral anniversary.

It’s hard to believe that a little over 35 years ago today, on a humid late May day in 1988, I married my college sweetheart. The following month, unbeknownst to me, IBM launched the AS/400 platform. This integrated system set out to change the course of business computing.

During its history, the platform has been renamed several times, but its unique attributes have withstood the test of time. In this interactive content experience, we delve deep into the ways in which the IBM i platform continues to evolve and excel.

We interviewed IBMers, clients, business partners and ISVs, user group leaders, IBM Champions, educators and more about this vast IBM i community’s strengths now that will carry the platform into the future. We hope you enjoy reading about, listening to and watching these luminaries in this interactive content experience.

And we hope you’ll join us in wishing a happy anniversary to IBM i. As for marking my own 35th anniversary in style, my husband and I have booked a trip to Hawaii for February 2024. Huntington has his own prediction for what the IBM i may do to celebrate.
