Power Systems user groups provide valuable opportunities for education, networking and connection
Education is part of what makes user groups so valuable, according to Ubelhor. She says user groups are “very affordable, providing an option for those with a big or little budget for education.”
Over the years, local user groups have evolved to include new generations of IBM i resources as well as younger generations of IBM i community members. Ubelhor mentions, “Groups have expanded their offerings to include local conference events, student activities, hands-on activities, virtual meetings, stronger ties to local colleges, competitions and other creative offerings.”
While user groups are constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of the IBM i community, one thing has remained consistent for the past 35 years: “All user groups have community connection and education as a mission and goal,” says Ubelhor.
