Christopher Doleshal

CU*Answers

Since he was introduced to IBM i in 2019 at CU*Answers, Christopher Doleshal has experienced substantial growth in his career, which is now dedicated to empowering others to explore the platform.

CU*Answers gave Doleshal the opportunity to take four IBM i courses at Muskegon Community College, exposing him to the platform and allowing him to become a junior programmer. Doleshal now works with a team writing custom programs and improving existing processes for clients and vendors.

“I have always wanted to be a programmer, but didn’t feel like it was accessible to me, and working with RPGLE felt natural and spurred my interest further in this platform,” Doleshal says. “I have enjoyed learning new techniques and technologies on [IBM i] and look forward to continuing as my career advances.”

Doleshal has also been actively supporting code modernization at his company.

“At CU*Answers, I’ve been a strong advocate for using free-format code, RDI, SQL and modularization,” Doleshal says. “I also enjoy taking the time to help other developers write more modern code, use a more modern IDE, and generally, produce higher quality code.”

Doleshal has demonstrated his commitment to promoting the platform by tutoring students at Muskegon Community College and teaching a quarterly class at CU*Answers to inform others about how they can access educational IBM i resources.
